After the visit of world-famous Konopiště Chateau near Prague we offer you also the possibility of visiting the brewery Ferdinand in Benešov near Prague.
The oldest mention about brewing in Benešov dates from 14th century. The biggest development in brewing has been noted in 19th century in connection with industrial prosperity of this town. In 1872 citizens of Benešov had founded stock capital malt house and market for crop plants. The new company has to face financial problems since the very beginning. These problems culminated in 1887 by selling the brewery to the owner of Konopiště estate archduke František Ferdinand d´Este. In 1919 the brewery came over to receivership and in 1923 has been established.
In 1994 the brewery begins to produce 10% and 12% beer called Staročeské pivo (Old Bohemian beer) and enlarge series of produced lager and dark beer under the title Ferdinand and nowadays the sortiment of Benesov brewery is enriched by commercial very successful beer Rytíř (Knight) and Blanický Rytíř (Blanicky Knight).
The brewery excursions are possible only after previous booking.
